Chet had always longed to be in the C-Suite and when he finally got that big promotion at Techsters, Inc., he was beyond excited AND up for the challenge. Chet had worked his way up from a coffee-runner to the mailroom stamp guy, to an IT tech, and NOW… CTO. His journey was nothing shy of amazing and while he still misses the simplicity of taking coffee orders (except from Jill, wow, triple matcha, boba, low foam, sugar free with extra sugar, coconut sprinkles and avocado shavings), he was in his sweet spot now. NOW, people ran coffee to HIM.
As Chet settled into his new role he started to notice all kinds of tech red-flags throughout the organization. Files were being stored all willy-nilly on desktop machines, backups were not being done regularly, software was all over the place organization wide, and so much of the equipment was aging rapidly, or firmware was way out of date. The bottom line, Chet knew that it was now his responsibility to keep Techsters, Inc. up and running, his career depended on it.
Chet fired up his dry-erase markers and headed to the white-board. After mapping out everything and all of the things that needed to be done to bring Techsters, Inc. into the 21st Century, he had a sinking feeling. It was a TON of work, work that his small team of three would not be able to even think about accomplishing. Chet needed help, and he needed help fast. He needed to outsource, but, there was so much riding on this, he HAD to make the right decision here. His boss, Calvin the CEO, wasn’t crazy about the idea, “There’s so much at stake here Chet, don’t SCREW this up.” (He didn’t say SCREW, BTW.) Chet set out to find a tech firm that he could trust, one that would show up, one with experience with companies his size, one that simply put, wasn’t composed of asshats. After scouring his LinkedIn account to see who he knew, he decided to call on some friends that work for a few municipalities. They ALL told Chet, you’ve GOT TO TALK TO TOM! Chet made the call and ASSI was there within hours. After assessing the entire IT situation, ASSI made a plan of attack that prioritized the most critical components and made it happen.
Within weeks of working together Techsters, Inc. was now growing, thriving, and protecting itself from a variety of tech threats including malware, vulnerabilities, backup failures, outdated components, and so much more. Chet, the Courageous CTO won employee of the month, got his own parking spot, AND gets prioritized coffee ordering. Calvin praised Chet, and his strategic thinking. ASSI has once again saved the day AND made Chet The CTO a hero.
